Hi everyone,
We have been getting a lot of e-mail asking when the Denali Pinnacle DVD will be available for order. The official release date will be some time at the end of January or early February, but we will start to take preorders on our web site around December 15th for it. Those who preorder it will get a discount and will also be shipped the DVD around 3 weeks before the release date. We will be sending out a reminder in a few weeks right before we start taking preorders. The DVD contains over 85 minutes of content, including 44 minutes of concert footage, videos for “Hold your Breath” and “Relief,” alternate angles for “The Instinct” and “Normal Days,” over 150 pictures of the band members, 2 home movies shot by Cam, and a hidden Easter egg. We have a trailer of the DVD up on the media section of the website for preview.
In celebration of this and all of the other DVDs we are working on at the moment, we have decided that through the end of December (we extended it) the Lovitt Transmissions: Vol. 1 DVD will be available on our website for $9.00 ($7.00 off!). It makes the perfect holiday gift!
The new Rah Bras full-length CD, WHOHM, is out now and getting positive write-ups (and rightly so) from Spin to Pitchfork. Both bizarre and strangely accessible, WHOHM achieves the rare genius of genuine creation in a realm fraught with endless reference and carbon copy replication of tired ideas. The band has been playing shows to support the release and will be adding some more in the near future. Make sure to go see them when they come to your town.
We added a song from Haram’s upcoming S/T full-length to the flash radio on our website for you to check out. Kevin Lamiell amicably left Haram recently, but longtime friend Jeff Kane (ex-City of Caterpillar, Malady) quickly learned Kevin’s parts and has blended into the group seamlessly. The CD/LP should be out around March and the band will be doing a 5-week tour starting at the end of February to support the record.
The Grey’s full-length, Asleep at the Wheel, will also be released at the same time as the Haram full-length. They just got back from a successful swing through the east coast of Canada. The online S/T EP will be up on Emusic within a few days and on iTunes by the end of Dec. Sonic Deadline Records in Canada released a limited run of the EP in silk-screened digipaks. We have this available for sale in our web store for those interested.
We have recently added a few new non-Lovitt items to our web store including the Haram demo, The Grey S/T EP, Burn Collector issue #13, and more. We will be adding even more items in the next few weeks, so be on the lookout.
Bats & Mice has come full circle with their line-up and Jonathan Fuller has re-joined the band. Luke moved out to Oakland, CA, in 2004 and joined Totimoshi and with Engine Down coming to an end, it worked out that Jonathan could once again work with Ben and David. They have been working on new material and hope to record a full-length at some point next year. No word on when the first show with this line-up will be (this version of the Bats & Mice never played live) but hopefully they will be ready by late spring. We have decided to have a 20% off sale on all Bats & Mice CDs for the month of December.
Speaking of sales, we have decided to have a big sale on items by bands that broke up this year. Any Lovitt-released CDs from Engine Down (and their last LP), Del Cielo, Decahedron, and Dame Fate are 30% off through the end of the year. Money from this sale will help get out all of our upcoming planned releases.
To anyone that videotaped or took pictures of the Lovitt 10 Year Anniversary show or the last Engine Down show in Richmond, we would really appreciate it if we could get copies for possible use in the next Lovitt DVD or the Engine Down DVD. You can email info@lovitt.com with the subject “footage/pictures” for more information on how to get stuff to us. We can use anything you have!
On a semi-separate note, we are looking for high-quality photos of the last Four Hundred Years show in Philadelphia. If you have any, please e-mail info@lovitt.com.
Lastly, a few weeks ago a joint compilation with Saddle Creek entitled Saddle Up and Love It was released. It is available at Hot Topic stores and can also be purchased from them on the internet by going to:http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=229541.
It includes material from a variety of our bands and theirs including Bright Eyes, Cursive, Engine Down, Decahedron, Division of Laura Lee, Criteria, Rah Bras, and more. There is 73 mins. of music on the CD and is well worth the $6.99 price.
More news in a few weeks.
Take care,
Lovitt
