Â
We also have a lot of other news to report. Let’s start with some band changes:
Â
2.   Decahedron has gone on indefinite hiatus following the cancellation of their last U.S. tour. Shelby and Jason both are quite busy with other projects at the moment, which you can read more about on their website (www.decahedron.net). Their new six-song CD entitled 2005 is out now. It was recorded with Don Zientara at Inner Ear. Continuing with guest bassist Jake Brown (Moments in Grace) after the departure of Johnathon Ford, the tracks are a continuation of their impassioned, pointed assault on puppet presidents and shadowy superstructures. The CD is enhanced with a full live set in Quicktime of their 2004 MACROCK performance.
Â
3.   After four-and-a-half years, Basla has decided to step down from Del Cielo after the shows they have scheduled through the end of September. The Lovitt 10th Anniversary show will be the last D.C. show with the current line-up. We hope that people are able to get out to the band’s final shows with her – she’s a great bass player and a wonderful person. We will all miss working with her in Del Cielo and know she will do great things in the future. Katy and Andrea are not sure of the exact future of Del Cielo but they plan on playing with someone new and seeing what happens. We certainly hope they continue playing in the future and we’ll keep you updated!
Â
4.   Dame Fate has decided to stop the band. They had been playing out with Marty Violence on guitar but with everyone’s different, hectic schedules, it was hard for them to stay active so they decided it was better to call it a day. We are sure that all of them will continue to play music and we will inform you as they do new things.
Â
Now onto better news:
Â
5.   The Grey just finished recording their stunning full-length. It will be mastered in the next few weeks at Silver Sonya. No release date for it yet, but we will be releasing an online-only EP in the meantime for people to enjoy. We hope to have that online in a month or so. The band features members of bands such as Shotmaker and Three Penny Opera. The band will be touring Canada, Europe, Japan, and hopefully the US (if the Border Patrol decides to let them back into the country). You can find out more about the band by visiting their website .
Â
6.   The Rosebuds started to record their songs for their split CD with Ben Davis. They recently left for tour with Teenage Fancllub and hope to finish recording when they return home. Speaking of Ben Davis, he recently got married and we are so happy for him and his new family!
Â
7.   The Navies EP, An Estate, has been getting rave reviews from press, and people who saw them on their recently completed U.S. tour were blown away . The band is going to take a break as Ed is going back to school in the fall but they hope to stay active. They recorded two new songs while they were on tour, which we are excited about.
Â
8.   We are excited to announce that we will be releasing an Engine Down DVD sometime in the future. The band will be recording their final tour, which will comprise a large portion of the DVD’s content. We are looking for any footage that people might have of the band for possible use. Any thing from overseas and older tours would be exceptionally helpful. If you have anything that you think would be helpful, please e-mail us or feel free to send footage to us at PO Box 100248, Arlington, VA, 22210. Also, we definitely appreciate anyone who can tape shows on their last tour and send us footage – please e-mail us if you are a documentarian for this tour!
Â
We also got in a repress of the Engine Down S/T LP; like the first pressing, they are all on 180-gram vinyl.
Â
9.   Fin Fang Foom is back out playing shows and writing some new songs.
Â
10. Rah Bras’ new full-length, WHOHM, will be released towards the end of the year and it is nothing short of jaw-droppingly intense and dramatic. They are figuring out their tour plans at the moment and should have some shows booked in the near future.
Â
11. We are in the planning stages of getting together a Lovitt Transmissions: Volume Two DVD. We are looking for footage of any of the following bands: Bughummer, Del Cielo, Navies, The Grey, Decahedron, Ben Davis, Maximillian Colby, Pinebender, and Dame Fate. If you think you have video that would be good enough to make the DVD, please let us know by e-mailing info@lovitt.com with the subject "Lovitt DVD."
Â
12. The Lovitt live series, a series of digital-only releases, will be going up on download sites in the near future. The first couple are Frodus’ “Live at Black Cat,” Sleepytime Trio’s ‘Live At Black Cat,” and Ben Davis’ “Live on XM Radio.” More to be announced soon.
Â
Next time, we hope to have more news about some other stuff we have been working on, including more DVDs!
Â
Take care,
Â
